Mechanical Rooms in a Moment

Precision Hydronics Products available at Hydronic Workshop

Hydraulic separators, manifold assemblies, near-boiler and secondary loop piping

We also offer “Mechanical Room in a Moment” products from Precision Hydronics Products, such as hydraulic separators, hydronic manifolds, boiler stands, space-efficient near-boiler piping assemblies, and secondary loop piping assemblies. For a complete list of hydronic products, see http://www.hydronicworkshop.com/.

Hydraulic separators provide an excellent way to simplify a mechanical room. Precision Hydronics manufactures a assortment of hydraulic separators to address most residential-sized mechanical loads. When coupled with prefabricated piping assemblies on either side of the separator you can be assured of proper pipe sizing and “T” spacing, conservation of mechanical room space, and increased energy efficiency.

A graphically rich white paper, written by Hoyt Corbett, the product developer of Precision Hydronic’s hydraulic separators, can be found by clicking here. Hoyt describes how hydraulic separation technology can simplify the usual primary/secondary loop piping arrangement and can eliminate some of the components found in more traditional piping.

Another explanation of hydraulic separation can be found on the PM Engineer web site in an article written in Sept. 2007 by John Siegenthaler, PE: Rediscovering Hydraulic Separation. Siegenthaler has spent considerable effort in recent times to promote the use of hydraulic separation as a smart alternative to the sometimes unnecessary complexities of standard primary/secondary loop piping. Said Siggy at the end of his white paper:

“Today, the North American hydronics industry is “rediscovering” the benefits of hydraulic separation combined with traditional header-type piping applied to multiload/multitemperature systems. We’re also learning this uses less componentry and lower pumping wattage relative to primary/secondary piping. As hardware and electricity prices continue to rise, it’s likely these newer approaches will soon become the standard.”

The Mini-Hydro example on the right shows a unit that replaces a much larger manifold arrangement. In some cases, an entire piping system can fit into a space no wider than 16 ½”.

With compact modular kits from PHP, installers can spend more time getting a system running and less time fabricating.

There are several versions of the hydraulic separator available from Precision Hydronics. Give us a call and we’ll help you figure out which one will work best for your project.
